Join us for an exclusive, in-depth workshop presented by Brianna Miluk, the Paediatric Feeding SLP and highly esteemed Speech-Language Pathologist and Certified Lactation Counsellor.
With a clinical focus on infants and medically-complex children with feeding and swallowing disorders, Brianna brings a wealth of hands-on experience and insightful knowledge to share. This immersive, two-day workshop will provide you with new tools and techniques to help your young clients thrive.

Day 1 – Monday 11 March 2024 – 9.00am to 4.30pm

Paediatric Feeding Disorders: Foundations of Assessment and Treatment
Kick-start your learning journey with a comprehensive overview of fundamental feeding assessments and treatments, encompassing a broad range of disorders and situations.
Day 2 – Tuesday 12 March 2024 – 9.00am to 4.30pm
Medically Complex Paediatric Feeding: Beyond the Basics
Dive deep into the unique challenges presented by medically-complex cases. Brianna will share her expert strategies for managing and improving these complex feeding disorders.
Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Registered Dietitians, Special Education Teachers, Psychologists, Physical Therapists, Early Intervention Specialists, Nurses, Physicians, Mental Health Workers and Students.
Note: Workshops are created for professionals. Parents who wish to attend the workshops should contact the host.
Two topics will be presented across the two days of the workshop. Please note that the topic presented on day two may differ from other cities. The topics that will be presented at Melbourne and subsequent learning outcomes are as follows:
Day 1 – Paediatric Feeding Disorders: Foundations of Assessment and Treatment
This workshop will take you through the process of completing a comprehensive paediatric feeding assessment to develop functional targeted outcomes for children aged six months old through to early adolescents.
Through presentation, hands-on demonstrations, and case-based learning; you will learn beyond the basics of bedside evaluations, including common related diagnoses and how to complete a functional oral motor exam, as well as key intervention philosophies that guide strategies in treatment. Oral, pharyngeal, and oesophageal domains will be included, with a focus placed on ensuring practice application is achieved.
You will leave this workshop feeling confident and empowered to assess and treat paediatric feeding and swallowing disorders.
Day 1 Learner Outcomes:
- Describe the four domains of paediatric feeding disorders
- Explain how to perform a comprehensive feeding and swallowing evaluation
- List signs and symptoms for referring to another discipline
- Apply 3 intervention philosophies to treatment strategies
- Identify three treatment strategies to support feeding skills progress
Day 2 – Medically Complex Paediatric Feeding: Beyond the Basics
This workshop focuses on assessment and treatment for children with developmental disabilities, severely restricted range of foods, and/or medical complexities.
Strategies and special considerations will be provided for populations including but not limited to, cerebral palsy, genetic syndromes, degenerative diseases, craniofacial conditions, tracheostomy/ventilator dependence, tube weaning, and NPO status.
Emphasis will be placed on sensorimotor and neuroplasticity principles with a trauma-informed, family-driven approach to support recommendations and treatment.
Interdisciplinary team collaboration and how to support building a referral network will be discussed. Case examples are provided to support application-based learning.
Day 2 Learner Outcomes:
- Describe four strategies to support building oral and pharyngeal dysphagia skills in children with medically complex diagnoses.
- Explain oral care considerations for patients at risk of aspiration.
- Discuss feeding practices for patients with tracheostomy or ventilator dependence.
- Apply tube weaning strategies intro practice

Brianna Miluk is an speech-language pathologist and certificated lactation counsellor whose clinical focus is with infants and medically-complex children with feeding and swallowing disorders. Bri is working on her PhD in Communication and Information Sciences through the University of Alabama with a research interest in dissemination of paediatric feeding research and misinformation on social media.
Bri is also the owner of Paediatric Feeding Therapy, LLC which strives to provide evidence-based, high quality continuing education to professionals. She manages the instagram @pediatricfeedingslp and is the host of the podcast The Feeding Pod. Bri is also president of the non-profit Pediatric Feeding Disorders Foundation and volunteer ambassador with Feeding Matters. She really enjoys providing mentorship and support to professionals and families on PFDs!
